Where does your antibody go?
Better visualize whole-body biodistribution of mAbs, ADCs, bispecifics, and biologics, section-by-section

Without comprehensive biodistribution data for therapeutic candidates, researchers can be left with last-minute findings that have costly and time-consuming implications.
Common obstacles antibody teams face include:
- Fragmented datasets: Tissue-based assays miss the full picture, and leave researchers piecing together a biodistribution profile
- Late identification of off-target uptake: leading to costly delays and program failure
- Limited anatomical information: as a result of utilizing only in vivo fluorescence imaging modalities
- No spatial context: leaves researchers without insights into tumor penetration, intra-organ heterogeneity, and tissue-specific accumulation patterns
These obstacles can be mitigated by integrating CFT into your biodistribution workflows. Most commonly, CFT is utilized as a high-throughput screening tool for antibodies.

Shown above are anatomical (left), co-registered anatomical and fluorescence (center), and fluorescence-only (right) images. In this study, CFT was used to evaluate whole-body biodistribution of AF647-labeled antibodies, including a lung-targeting construct, in mice. CFT identified heterogeneous localization throughout the lungs as well as unexpected thyroid uptake with greater relative fluorescence intensity than the intended pulmonary target, highlighting the ability of CFT to resolve both on- and off-target tissue distribution in 3D.
Why Cryo-Fluorescence Tomography for Antibody Research?
Cryo-Fluorescence Tomography is an ex vivo imaging technology where whole animals and/or individual tissues are serially sectioned to produce a 3D dataset that provides anatomical and molecular data, co-registered, and visualized in multiple planes. CFT reveals antibody biodistribution down to sub-organ structures, tumor microenvironments, and unexpected off-target tissues, all in one experiment.
CFT enables researchers to:
- Visualize biodistribution of mAbs, ADCs, bispecifics, and biologics in a single 3D dataset
- Better identify on- and off-target tissue localization with anatomical detail
- Assess tumor penetration and tissue heterogeneity with ~20–55 µm resolution
- Detect low-abundance signal with single-digit nM sensitivity
- 6-plex fluorescence enabling same animal comparison of payload and delivery vehicle.
- Accelerate candidate screening and enable earlier, more confident go/no-go decisions

Start Using Cryo-Fluorescence Tomography
EMIT is committed to making CFT accessible to researchers across the globe. To serve the diverse needs of our customers, we offer two flexible pathways to access CFT.
Fee-for-service research: Researchers can leverage EMIT’s expert scientific team through a fully supported service model. You handle the in-life component of your study, then ship frozen samples to our facility. From there, our team prepares and blocks the tissue, images it on one of our in-house Xerra systems, and works closely with you to deliver a tailored analysis package that meets your study’s specific needs.
Xerra System Purchase: For facilities with the infrastructure to bring CFT in-house, purchasing a Xerra system may be the ideal solution. This option gives your team direct, ongoing access to the technology on your own terms.
